About The Project

The Parasea–Belbaid Reorganisation Underground Coal Mine project marks an important milestone in the modernization of underground coal mining in India. The project was awarded to Gainwell Commosales Private Limited by Eastern Coalfields Limited in March 2023 for the development and operation of the mine over a 25-year period.

To execute the project, Parasea Coal Mine Project Private Limited (PCMPPL) was incorporated in June 2023 as a dedicated Special Purpose Vehicle responsible for the planning, development and operation of the mine.

The project integrates underground mine development, surface infrastructure creation and supporting systems necessary to enable safe and efficient mining operations.

Project Overview

The project involves the development of extensive underground and surface infrastructure, including the construction of two mechanized inclines of approximately 1,600 metres each with a gradient of 1 in 4.5, making them among the longest incline drivages in India’s underground coal mining sector. The development scope also includes new airshaft sinking upto a depth of 335m, deepening of the existing shaft, construction of power supply infrastructure including 33 kV/6.6 kV main substations, and development of water management systems including one of the longest jore diversions in the region.

Coal extracted from the underground workings will be transported through a surface belt conveyor system to the Parasea Railway Siding, enabling efficient, streamlined, and dust-controlled coal evacuation.
